On My Way

This is a 90 minute daytime driving lesson using a car with automatic transmission and dual controls (a brake pedal on the passenger side).  This lesson is available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday but is NOT available at night or on a Sunday.  NB Sundays and night lessons can be accessed via separate ‘Book lesson’ buttons. 

This is a 90 minute driving lesson in your car (auto or manual) so we can learn how to reverse parallel park, change gears smoothly or do hill starts. BTW I am happy to offer lessons in your car provided you have 100 hours of experience and it is registered, roadworthy, comprehensively insured & CLEAN. The Keys2drive was an Australian government-backed program that offered a free driving lesson to learner drivers and their parents/supervisors.  While the free program was discontinued in June 2023, and is no longer funded by the Australian Government, the underlying principles of the program continue to be as relevant and valuable today, as they were in the 10+ years to 2023.

This lesson capitalises on the original ideas of the Keys2drive program including a shared learning experience, and personalised driver training, with the goal of improving road safety for young drivers, through educating them and particularly their parents/supervisors.

Key features include:

1. A lesson with a driving instructor specifically trained and accredited to deliver the Keys2drive program.  Danny has presented this lesson 80+ times

2. The K2D lesson starts in your home with a 25-30 minute presentation on the ‘Find Your Own Way’ (FYOW) approach, and then moves onto the road, in my car, for around 60 minutes of driving, in which parents/supervisors are shown how to put the ‘Find Your Own Way’ (FYOW) approach into practice.

3. Shared Learning: Both the learner driver and their parent/supervisor participate in the lesson. Parents/supervisors are expected to participate in the whole 90-minute lesson (to help them to be more effective supervisors) otherwise the lesson reverts to a standard 90-minute driving lesson.

In this slightly longer than usual lesson, we use the time to assess your driving using the official score sheet as we drive around a mock test route comprising 25 ‘zones’ (in your car or mine) simulating a real driving test. This will help you to get a sense of how you will perform in the real driving test (i.e. pass or fail) and, most importantly, what you need to focus on to improve your likelihood of success.
