This course provides new and existing building and construction industry participants with the introductory understanding and knowledge needed to commence or continue work in the building and construction industry and is a mandatory nationally recognized unit of competency to gain a Rail industry Worker Card. It provides an introductory understanding and the knowledge needed to commence or continue work in the building and construction industry.

At the completion of the course participants will be able to:

- Determine and apply basic risk management concepts in relation to construction type work
-Read, interpret and apply all safety instructions as required
- Identify and follow standard work procedures in the event of an emergency
- Report hazards and potential workplace incidents to appropriate personnel

TLIF2010 is a national unit of competency from Transport and Logistics (TLI) training package.

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to apply fatigue management strategies within the rail industry. Persons conducting a business or undertaking have the primary duty to ensure, which includes ensuring:

provision and maintenance of a work environment without risks to health and safety
provision and maintenance of safe systems of work, and
monitoring the health of workers and the conditions at the workplace for the purpose of preventing illness or injury of workers arising from the conduct of the business or undertaking
The aim of this program is to equip participants with the required skills and knowledge to apply fatigue management strategies within the rail environment for effective safe behaviours in rail work.

It includes identifying and acting on signs of fatigue and implementing appropriate strategies to minimise fatigue during work activities. This training is classroom based and runs for 1 day and includes discussion, activities and written and practical assessments.

Participation in activities and discussion throughout the course including exploration of work-based scenarios will enable participants to develop and demonstrate their understanding and ability to apply safety critical communication in the rail industry.

This national unit of competency involves the skills and knowledge required to apply effective safety critical communications and is also considered best practice for general communications in the rail environment.

It includes communicating, providing timely and accurate rail operational information, and responding to unplanned situations or events appropriately.

This unit is intended for rail safety workers who are required to identify and respond to operational information as part of their job role. They may be working within a rail operational or infrastructure environment.

Safety critical communication is any communication that, if not delivered or not delivered accurately or promptly, could result in death, serious injury or incur significant damage to property, infrastructure, or the environment.

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of training participants will:

Interpret and follow operational instructions
Use communication channels & techniques to effectively communicate with work teams and operations personnel
Prioritising responses in accordance with operational procedures
